Women's Empowerment

Women’s Empowerment currently runs two programs with a focus on economic skills and job readiness: the first is an eight-week life skills program for homeless women, and the second is the more advanced Women’s Empowerment Works!, which emphasizes job training and financial literacy. Women’s Empowerment will use the funding to enable more homeless women to participate in economic empowerment training, and will implement the Allstate curriculum as part of this effort.

Women’s Empowerment currently partners with other community groups to implement its financial literacy classes, and hopes that the addition of the Allstate curriculum will help shed light on the connection between domestic violence, safety and financial empowerment. Eighty-eight percent of the homeless women served by Women’s Empowerment have experienced partner violence, and participation in the B.O.S.S. Program, plus the opportunity to collaborate with domestic violence agencies, will be helpful to all of the agency’s clients.
